Duncan Bannatyne documentary: British American Tobacco targeting African Children with cigarettes In a new BBC documentary the UK's Duncan Bannatyne takes on the company behind Embassy, Pall Mall and Benson & Hedges and asks them why they're targeting African children, in the face of falling smoker numbers in the west.
British American Tobacco AGM protest
ASH (Action on Smoking and Health) staged a two part protest outside the HQ of BAT and at their AGM on 30th April 2008. First, they laid 1000 to signify the 100,000 deaths each year due to BAT cigarettes in Africa, then they targeted delegates entering the AGM. Youth groups from Salford and South Wales were involved in the protest, which was also covered by a BBC team with entrepeneur Duncan Bannatyne who is presenting an exposé of tobacco marketing in Africa for braodcast in July 2008.
