OUR SUPPORT SERVICES
A diagnosis of cancer can bring about a tremendous amount of upheaval and uncertainty into the lives of both the person diagnosed and their family. It is at these times that the Cancer Society can provide that extra bit of support and information to complement that being provided through the health care system.
At a local level, the Cancer Society and its trained volunteers provide confidential information and support for people affected by cancer. These services include:
- Support during treatment including transport, accommodation, visiting, gardening and meal preparation
- 1-2-1 and family counselling
- Educational programmes
- Complementary therapies
- Patient information
- Peer support (Cancer Connect)
- Breast Cancer Support Service
- Assistance Grants
The range of services offered differs in each region so contact your local Division to find out what is available near you. |
