Volunteering


Volunteers are an integral part of the Cancer Society and its delivery of services.

City and rural services and activities are delivered by a team of staff and volunteers.

Volunteers’ roles include:

  • Providing emotional and practical support to people with cancer and their whanau/family. This can include providing time-out for caregivers, home visits and offering practical help with day-to-day activities. 
  • Driving people with cancer to local cancer-related appointments.Promoting healthy lifestyles messages such as Smoke free, Sun Smart and Live Smart. 
  • Support groups for men and women.
  • Peer support Helping raise funds through fundraising groups, assisting with Daffodil Day, Relay For Life and other events.
  • Helping staff with clerical tasks, photocopying, administration, producing newsletters. 
  • Professional advice and governance
