Volunteering

Volunteers

Volunteers have been vital to our organisation right from its beginnings and are no different today.

Most of our volunteers are drawn to the Cancer Society because of a strong sense of wanting to give their time and skills to a worthy project while working together with a team to help achieve our mission.

The Cancer Society NZ Manawatu Centre Inc values volunteers as vital members of its team and recognises their unique contribution in support of our mission and the services we provide. Without the continuing support and commitment of volunteers, The Cancer Society would be unable to achieve the extent and quality of services provided to the community.

There are many different roles volunteers can be involved in across the organisation and throughout the district the Centre covers. Some of these are more formal than other roles. Some detail is provided below on various volunteering opportunities available. If you require more information please contact the Volunteer Services Coordinator ph (06) 356 5355

We provide an orientation, appropriate training as necessary and up-skilling opportunities.  Support is provided by staff and fellow volunteers and a contribution to out-of-pocket expenses is offered.  There is an opportunity to learn new skills, refresh old ones, gain experience, make new friends, and have fun!
