Help Us
Ways You Can Help
The Cancer Society of New Zealand, Otago and Southland Division is a non-profit organisation that receives no direct government funding. We provide free services to our community. All donated and raised funds benefit Otago and Southland. There are many different ways you can contribute to our activities.
Volunteering
City and rural services and activities are delivered by a team of staff and volunteers. Please contact us if you would like to volunteer.
Volunteers’ roles include:
- Providing emotional and practical support to people with cancer and their whanau/family. This can include providing time-out for caregivers, home visits and offering practical help with day to day activities.
- Driving people with cancer to local cancer-related appointments.
- Promoting healthy lifestyles messages such as Smokefree, SunSmart and LiveSmart.
- Supporting women with breast cancer.
- Helping raise funds through fundraising groups, assisting with Daffodil Day, Relay For Life and other events
- Providing baking for clients
- Helping staff with clerical tasks, photocopying, admin, producing the volunteer newsletter.
If you would like to apply to be a volunteer, contact us at
kim@cansoc.org.nz or phone your local office.
