How you can help

We need your help! The Cancer Society is a charitable organisation and receives no direct government funding. It is only through the generosity and support of our communities we are able to offer free support, information and education services. There are a number of ways you can help us continue these vital services and supports.

Become one of our dedicated volunteers - volunteers are essential for the Cancer Society to be able to offer free services. Trained volunteers provide a wide range of services including driving, support visiting, hosting support groups and fundraising. We always welcome new volunteers.

Make a donation - donations made by individuals, families, service clubs, businesses and other community groups are vitally important for the Cancer Society to maintain and improve services. You may also choose to become one of our regular donors or become a member of the Waikato/Bay of Plenty Cancer Society. Businesses may also choose to become a sponsor.

Support us on Daffodil Day - Daffodil Day is the Cancer Society’s annual flagship fundraising and awareness campaign held on the last Friday of August. The daffodil is used as a symbol of the hope there is for the one in three New Zealander’s affected by cancer.

Get involved with Relay For Life - Relay is the Cancer Society’s second major annual event. The fun, overnight relay involves teams walking or jogging around a track having fundraised prior to the event weekend. It’s all about celebrating with cancer survivors, remembering those lost and fighting back against the disease by fundraising for the Society.

Raise funds on our behalf - community fundraising is another vital way the community supports the Cancer Society. Individuals and community groups hold a wide range of special events and fundraisers for the Society. The Cancer Society is able to provide information and some resources to support these events. Contact your local Cancer Society office for further information.

Leave a gift on your Will - a Will represents an important pledge to ensure the money you’ve worked hard for is left to the people and places that are important to you. By making a gift to the Cancer Society in your Will you are leaving a legacy. Contact us on 0800 22 77 44 for a free Will information pack.

Make a donation in memory of a loved one - In Memoriam donations are a special way of remembering someone who has died from cancer while at the same time helping others affected by cancer.

All the money raised by the Waikato/Bay of Plenty division stays in this region to help local people affected by cancer. The division also supports a national research pool through an annual levy that in turn benefits all New Zealanders affected by cancer.

Waikato/Bay of Plenty gratefully acknowledge the support of these organisations:
