Become a Volunteer
With only a small number of paid staff much of the work of the division is carried out by volunteers. Just a few hours of your time a week can make a big difference to someone affected by cancer.
You could assist with any of the following roles:
- Driving people to and from appointments
- Providing practical support to people affected by cancer
- Visiting people affected by cancer in hospital and at home
- Helping with fundraising events (e.g. Daffodil Day)
- Helping with clerical and administration support
- Working in hospital-based roles
Print out a volunteer application form to become a regular volunteer, or contact us to find out more.
All volunteers must undergo an interview process to ensure that people with cancer are receiving the best possible support and care from Cancer Society volunteers. Once you have completed your volunteer application form and sent it into us a Cancer Society representative will contact you to make a time for an interview at one of our offices. You will then be asked to sign a contract before starting any necessary training for your volunteer role.
Waikato/Bay of Plenty gratefully acknowledge the support of these organisations:
