Volunteers needed for Daffodil Day appeal
Daffodil Day is just around the corner and the Waikato/Bay of Plenty Cancer Society is looking for volunteers to make their annual fundraiser a success.
Volunteers are needed for a range of jobs including general office administration, pre-selling fresh daffodils to local businesses, delivering flowers and collecting at street sites on Daffodil Day, Friday 30 August.

Exercise for people with cancer available at Lodge
A new exercise programme for people with cancer is now available at the Cancer Society’s Lions Lodge. The programme is especially designed to aid treatment and recovery after a cancer diagnosis and is available to people during or after their cancer treatment.
The Waikato/Bay of Plenty Cancer Society is inviting people with cancer from Hamilton and surrounding towns to contact them for an appointment and give the exercise programme a go. Each programme is designed to suit the client’s health and capabilities, catering for physical condition, type, stage and treatment of cancer and any side effects they are experiencing.

Relayers descend on Waterfront
Tauranga’s Relay For Life saw hundreds of team members, survivors and spectators from across the Bay of Plenty descend on Tauranga’s Waterfront at the weekend.
The Cancer Society’s 22 hour fundraising and awareness event returned to Tauranga this year after a four year break, raising more than $60,000, an amount which is expected to increase in the coming weeks as team fundraising continues to come in.

Relay For Life celebrates 10 years in style
Hamilton’s Relay For Life saw hundreds of team members, survivors and spectators from across the Waikato descend on AgResearch, Ruakura at the weekend.
The Cancer Society’s 22 hour fundraising and awareness event celebrated its 10th anniversary in Hamilton this year, raising more than $170,000, an amount which is expected to increase in the coming weeks as team fundraising continues to come in.

Cancer Society supports university’s smokefree commitment
The Waikato/Bay of Plenty Division of the Cancer Society applauds the University of Waikato’s decision today to bring in a smokefree policy.
The policy brings the university in line which many of New Zealand’s tertiary intuitions, including Wintec, which have smokefree campuses.
