About Us
The Waikato/Bay of Plenty Cancer Society is the second largest division of the Cancer Society of New Zealand Inc - an organisation with six regional divisions and a national office in Wellington.
We are proud to have:
- Instigated the Quitline - which is now a nationwide service paid for by the government.
- Opened the new Cancer Society's Lions Lodge in February 2011 providing support and accommodation for people who have to travel long distances for cancer treatment at Waikato Hospital.
- Created Undercover Cody - the coolest SunSmart turtle who is inspiring thousands of children in the region to slip, slop, slap and wrap!
- Raised more than $500,000 from Daffodil Day 2011 and over $300,000 from Relay for Life events in 2010.
All this wouldn't be possible without the amazing support we receive from the community and enthusiastic volunteers!
