Reducing Your Cancer Risk
You can reduce your risk by:
- not smoking
- avoiding over-exposure to Ultra Violet Radiation (UVR) from the sun and sun beds
- maintaining a healthy body weight
- being physically active
- eating a diet high in fruit and vegetables
- avoiding or limiting alcohol
- undertaking recommended screening for different cancers.
Reducing your risk of cancer is a focus of Health Promotion activities of the Cancer Society, which is the key organisation in New Zealand dedicated to reducing the incidence and impact of cancer.
