Keeping Children Smokefree
Even though it doesn't always feel true, parents really can do a lot to reduce the chance that their kids will become smokers.
The most important thing you can do is to either quit smoking or stay smokefree, however you can also take other steps to make sure your kids understand why you don't want them to smoke.
Lead by example and quit smoking or stay smokefree.
- Never give or buy them cigarettes.
- Don't let people smoke around them.
- Make your home and car smokefree.
- Tell them why you don't want them to smoke.
- Have your kids take their lunch to school rather than giving them money.
- Ask your family and friends to support you.
